Our Greenhouse intern will work hands-on with our crews and the growing team to learn all about growing methods and planting in the greenhouse. Your primary focus will be growing methods, and scheduling production in the greenhouse. This is a paid internship.

Jobs Duties:

  • Cultural Practices- Conduct a wide variety of growing duties including pruning, spacing, weeding, irrigation, fertilization, etc.
  • Planting annuals, woody and herbaceous perennial stock into containers. Prepare, plant and transport product to growing fields. Plant trees and evergreens in the field.
  • Shipping- assemble and load orders of containers and/or perennial stock for retail and/or wholesale sales.
  • Field Harvest- Harvest and package field grown nursery stock in B&B, bare-root, or gro-bags.
  • Production Planning/Inventory-assist with a wide variety of inventory duties in container and field production
  • Other duties- there may be a wide variety of other production or support duties that are required on an occasional basis
  • Attend weekly grower meetings to learn and discuss plant health/ production
  • Operate a variety of nursery equipment in the performance of above duties

Qualifications:

  • Horticulture, Soil Science, Ag., Forestry, Biology or majors applicable
  • Plant ID course preferred and helpful. Horticulture production or related experience helpful, but not required.

Schedule:

  • 40 hours a week, M-F. May-August.
Compensation: $18.00/hr
