Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead & Inspire the HR Team: Take charge of the HR team’s development, performance management, training, and process improvement to ensure excellence across the board. Build a high-performing team through mentorship, goal-setting, and continuous learning.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Team: Work closely with senior leadership to provide strategic guidance on policies, procedures, and organizational development initiatives that enhance our corporate culture and employee experience.
  • Training & Development: Design and deliver impactful training programs that align with company needs—focusing on leadership development, performance management, communication skills, and customer service training in partnership with operations leadership. Lead our DEI and Wellness committees.
  • Expert in H2A & H2B Programs: Oversee and direct the full scope of employment/recruitment efforts for all divisions, ensuring smooth administration of H2A and H2B visa programs to support seasonal labor needs.
  • Strategic Employee Relations Leadership: Provide expert guidance to Employee Relations Manager and Company Leadership on employee relations matters, handling performance issues, promotions, disciplinary actions, and legal compliance, while fostering a supportive and positive work environment for all employees.
  • Compliance & Policy Management: Ensure the company stays ahead of all local, state, and federal mandates, implementing best practices in HR policy to minimize risk and maximize compliance.
  • Benefit Program Management—5+ years managing and negotiating with vendors. Strong knowledge of Leaves (Personal, Medical, Minnesota specific) and FMLA.
  • Compensation & Benefits: Lead the management and optimization of competitive compensation and benefits that drive retention and attract top talent, balancing business needs with market realities.
  • Union Negotiations & Relations: Utilize your deep expertise in labor relations to formulate and recommend policies around union/management relations. Lead the company’s position in union contract negotiations and represent management in collective bargaining issues and agreements.
  • Grievance & Disciplinary Oversight: Administer grievance procedures and union disciplinary actions with efficiency and precision, ensuring that all actions align with the terms of the union contract, state and federal laws, and company policy.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business, or a related field
  • 10+ years of hands-on HR experience across a range of areas like employment, employee relations, benefits, union negotiations, and compensation
  • 5+ years of HR leadership experience at the manager/director level
  • Experience managing formal salary administration & performance systems for 5+ years
  • Proven knowledge of HRIS/HCM systems (UKG is a plus), along with proficiency in Applicant Tracking Systems (JazzHR) and PC applications (Excel, Word, Outlook)—we are constantly striving to streamline HR operations.
  • Exceptional communication skills—this role engages with all levels of employees and influences positive change across the company.
  • Background in organizations with 1,000+ employees.
  • Union and contract negotiation experience preferred.
  • Workers’ Compensation expertise—3+ years of experience, including in-depth knowledge of reporting requirements like Minnesota AWAIR, OSHA, and ADA.
  • Training & Development Leadership—5+ years of experience developing programs, measuring outcomes, and empowering employees to thrive.
  • Visa program knowledge, including H-2 programs, is highly preferred.
  • Retail/Seasonal Business experience desired

Compensation: $100,000-$115,000/year
