Salaried Position 

Bachman's is seeking a Sr. Director of Nursery Wholesale to lead the strategic growth, sales and marketing, nursery buying, and operation efforts of Bachman's Nursery Wholesale and Hardscapes division. This role provides leadership in achieving corporate and divisional goals for profitable sales, customer service excellence, operational effectiveness, innovation, and team development. The Senior Director drives continuous improvement and ensures integration across departments including production, buying, and sales to deliver exceptional value to both retail and wholesale customers. 

Job Duties:

  • Lead and direct all hardscape, nursery sales, and yard operations to meet financial, operational, and strategic objectives. 
  • Oversee department financial planning, including annual budget development, capital projects, and strategic investments. 
  • Collaborate closely with Nursery Production, Buying, and Yard Operations to ensure alignment across supply chain, inventory flow, and customer fulfillment. 
  • Develop and execute business, marketing and sales strategies to drive growth and profitability in Nursery Wholesale and Hardscape categories. 
  • Provide leadership and oversight to the Nursery Buying team, ensuring that product assortment plans align with market demand and financial objectives. 
  • Collaborate with buyers to develop seasonal and long-range purchasing strategies that support sales goals, inventory management, and margin targets. 
  • Partner with the buying team to monitor vendor performance, secure product availability, and ensure quality standards are met. 
  • Support negotiation strategies and vendor relationship management. 
  • Partner with HR to develop talent, support recruiting and training, and ensure strong team culture. 
  • Represent the company at industry functions and build strong vendor and industry relationships. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Horticulture, Business, or related filed; graduate degree preferred. 
  • 7+ years of progressive management experience, preferably in horticulture or wholesale distribution. 
  • Deep knowledge of landscape and hardgood products. 
  • Strong understanding of sales, marketing, and customer strategy in Wholesale Operations. 
  • Proven ability to develop strategic business, marketing, and financial plans. 
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills. 
  • Strong analytical and organization skills. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and relevant ERP systems (NetSuite and CECS preferred). 

Schedule:

  • Position requires 45+ hours per week. Additional hours (50+ hours and weekends are common during peak weeks) Seven day workweeks may be occasionally necessary. 
  • This position will require work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions on occasion. 
  • This position may require occasional overnight travel during the year. 


Compensation: $100,000-$115,000/year
